Steal vs. Splurge

Oct 20, 2020

It can be frustrating when you find a trend that you adore, but buying the piece costs basically a month’s rent! After all, as Linda Fargo (Legendary Fashion Director for Bergdorf Goodman) says, “Fashion should be fun!”

The Style team decided to study these trends, especially the ones that we covet ourselves, and look for comparable options at a more comfortable price point. We are not looking for brands who are directly copying another brand, that is not our vibe, rather those that come up with an alternative but similar look that represents the trend well!

From time to time, we will circle back to talk about other trends with you. For now, hope this one is helpful! Please let us know if you enjoy it!

Sequined dresses and skirts are all the rage. Despite the difficult times we are living in, or maybe because of it, people are reacting positively to full-on sequined looks. The top brands doing this are Galvan and Retrofete. Alison especially loves the idea of a sequined sarong skirt paired with a simple tee and sneakers, or dressed up with a sexy sandal for night. Delia is all about the mini with strappy heels!

Everyone by now is aware of Golden Goose sneakers. Either you love them or you hate them, or you love them but you hate the price! We wanted to introduce you to another brand that is very hot right now at a fraction of the price that we absolutely adore for its comfort and style.

Another piece that is always on trend is the Hermès bag. For the last few seasons, Tory Burch has been offering a gorgeous lady-like bag in her collection that is similar in design. It is not inexpensive, but certainly beats the price of a Birkin and is a beautiful, timeless piece to add to your closet.
