Who is fashion’s Golden Boy now?

As you know, we like to keep you up to date on all things style, so today we are going to answer the burning question:

WHO IS THE DARLING OF THE FASHION WORLD?!?

It’s always interesting to see who the fashion insiders choose as “The One”; the biggest designer of the moment. There have, of course, been many; think Phoebe Philo for Celine, Raf Simons for Dior, Tom Ford and Alessandro Michele for Gucci, to name a few. All of these fashion designers raised the heritage brand they worked for to the next level, by reaching into the brand’s archives or original vision, and reinterpreting it in a modern way, all the while staying true to the House. 

WHO IS FASHION’S GOLDEN BOY NOW AND WHY DOES IT MATTER TO ME?

The answers are:

1. Daniel Lee for Bottega Veneta
2. It matters because you will see “interpretations” (nice way to say copies!) of his designs EVERYWHERE at all price points, especially the shoes and bags

Bottega Veneta has been around for a very long time (it was founded in 1966 as a luxury goods and high fashion brand), known especially for its leather craftsmanship, and the iconic weave used in their bags and shoes, etc., serving as a different, more discreet logo; it’s the idea of “If you know, you know”, the ultimate luxury insiders’ club. It has not been at the top of the pecking order for some time though, more a brand for high-end but understated shoppers.

WHAT HAS CHANGED?

Daniel Lee has found a way to reinterpret the classic look of the brand, creating a more fashion forward style by enlarging the size of the iconic weave pattern they are so well known for. Another huge hit is the “Pouch” bag. Lee is responsible for other wildly popular designs as well. You may have noticed square toes, strappy sandals, large crisscross patterned bags, and puffy pouches seem to be all over these days, and now you know why!
