Broadway had a big week this week with The Tony Awards followed by The Public Theater‘s Gala on the Green the next night! The Style That Binds Us covered the red carpet for this year’s gala which took place at The Delacorte Theater in Central Park. This year’s program celebrates “the greatest city in the world” under the stars of Central Park featuring performances by Christopher Jackson (he played George Washington in Hamilton) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Creator of Hamilton & In the Heights). The evening started with a cocktail hour at 6:00 p.m. in Central Park outside The Delacorte Theater, followed by a three-course dinner beginning at 7:00 p.m with musical performances throughout cocktails and dinner.
Brandon Victor Dixon and Maleah Joi Moon gave a sneak peek into the upcoming musical HELL’S KITCHEN (Music and Lyrics by Alicia Keys) that will debut at The Public Theater this fall. Anna Uzele (NEW YORK, NEW YORK) also performed.
Joe Papp is the Founder of The Public Theater. The Public’s mission is to provide free and affordable access to thousands of New Yorkers with Free Shakespeare in the Park each summer as well as other programming throughout the year at the downtown Public Theater location.
