What led you to start Proper Good?
We wanted quick and easy meals on-hand at home, for when we were too busy to cook but that also had ingredients lists that we liked! Healthy options on doordash were too expensive, fast food was bad for us, and we didn’t have time to cook so there was no ‘good-for-you & affordable option’ so we set about creating that option and Proper Good was born.
What is Proper Good?
Proper Good makes easy meals! We want to make eating well easy, so we have ‘Heat & Eat’ meals that are ready in just 90-seconds or less, like our Southwest Chili or Creamy Chicken Soup. We also have our ‘Soak & Savor’ Overnight Oats which are fantastic breakfast or snack option with 15g of protein.
What did you do before starting Proper Good?
We both worked in the natural food space.
How did you go about crafting the recipes? Will you tell us about the ingredients you use vs. would never use?
When we first started Proper Good all the meals and recipes were created based on the meals we wanted, however, as we have grown we have relied more and more on customer feedback and requests to make sure we are crafting meals that people want. In terms of ingredients we make our meals ‘like you would at home’ with wholesome ingredients and are minimally proceed – just compare our ingredients lists to other meals and you will see what we mean!
Will you tell us about the variety of meals you offer?
We currently make a variety of meals for breakfast, lunch & dinner, with more meals coming soon! Enjoy soups, chilis, curries, oatmeals and overnight oats.
What’s the mission of Proper Good?
Our mission is to make eating well easy and affordable. We have partnered with Walmart to get our delicious meals on shelves nationwide! You can find us in the soup aisle and the cereal aisle.
Is Proper Good sustainable?
Proper Good has worked really hard to be as sustainable as possible across shipping, packaging and food production.
Any tips for how we can be healthier?
We try to be as healthy and happy as possible and our top tips would be getting 8 hours of sleep, good hydration, working out regularly (lifting weights and cardio) and, of course, eating well.
Will you tell us about your experience on Shark Tank? What did you learn?
Shark Tank was an amazing experience for us personal and as a brand. In terms of a life experience it was so fun and stressful at the same time and it was awesome to do such a unique experience. For Proper Good the experience was defining in the sense that it introduced us to so many new people and our website went crazy in a good way, we had a few levels of projections for orders and we blazed through them all, selling way past what we expected and continue to have repeat customers from the airing even now.
What is it like working with your brother/sister?
We have worked together on many projects since we were kids so it is pretty natural for us, it was not really a case of “deciding” to work together, it is just something we have always done. Like any good partnership you have to have trust and aligned goals – we are both very focused on Proper Good and its potential to provide delicious easy meals across America.
What’s next for you?
We’re focused on Proper Good and continuing to create new meals and expand our range of deliciousness. Look out for new meals coming soon!
