WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A CLOSET EDIT

WHAT DOES A STYLE CONSULTANT DO EXACTLY?

Our resident stylist, Alison, wears many hats. One day she may help a woman pack for a bi-coastal work trip, and another she may be helping a mother and daughter prepare for a wedding, then on yet another day, she is working with a client, either virtually (through Zoom, FaceTime or Skype), or in-person creating outfits for the season, or completing a closet cleanse. The process in Alison’s case, is very unique to each client, based on her needs at the time. Many clients have long term relationships with Alison, which creates a special bond. Regardless, the experience is tailored specifically to that client. Learn more about our styling services here.

WHAT A DAY IN THE CLOSET WITH ALISON LOOKS LIKE

Letting someone into your home, especially into your bedroom and closet, can be a little daunting. Trying on clothes, talking about figure issues, budget, personal circumstances, etc., can make you feel vulnerable. People put off making appointments for so many self-defeating reasons; embarrassment (what will she think about my messy closet? Maybe I should lose weight first? Will she judge me? The list can be endless…); we call this thought process “Self Sabotage”!

IS THERE A WAY TO GET A GLIMPSE BEHIND-THE-SCENES?

Alison had the pleasure of working with Ridgely Brode, of Ridgely’s Radar, to do a Closet Edit, and Ridgely took the opportunity to write about the experience. We are sharing the blog post with you, in hopes of encouraging you to take the leap; working with someone to go through your clothes, to help you create a “look” going forward, and put together outfits, so you won’t have to stress anymore about what to wear, is the ultimate gift you can give yourself!

WE HOPE THIS BLOG POST HELPS!

After reading Ridgely’s account of the day spent in closet with Alison and Suzanne, (Ridgely’s best friend who came along for emotional support!), you should feel more comfortable with the idea of working with a wardrobe consultant. The process, which seems scary at first (the anxiety building as the appointment date comes closer), quickly becomes a day of laughter, hard work, and a huge sense of accomplishment. You are left with a dose of boosted self-esteem as well. Not bad for a day’s work!
