WHO IS RITA HAZAN?

You may not know her, but you have most definitely seen her work. She is the colorist behind some of the most famous women IN THE WORLD. We’re talking about Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Jessica Simpson, Madonna, Katy Perry…. do we need to go on? In other words, this woman knows her stuff!

HOW DID SHE BECOME A CELEBRITY COLORIST?

If you listen to our podcast conservation with Rita, you will get the complete story. One thing we hadn’t realized is that she worked for Oribe for many years, becoming his protegé. This was especially exciting to Delia, because Oribe had been her vendor at Barneys when she was on the Apothecary buying team. What an impressive beginning Rita had!

COULD WE GET OUR HAIR COLORED BY HER?

Yes! She is very busy with clients in the salon, and flying back and forth to work with her celebrity clients, but you are welcome to visit her beautiful salon on 5th avenue, where she and those who have trained under her, are busy cutting and coloring client’s hair every day. She doesn’t play favorites; famous people and someone off the street are equally important to Rita and her team. 

DOES SHE HAVE HER OWN PRODUCTS?

Yes, she has her own product line! She is an absolute perfectionist, so she may spend several years developing one product. The process for that is very interesting, so don’t miss listening to the podcast as she walks us through what that looks like.

WHAT IS SHE LIKE AS A PERSON?

Rita Hazan is delightful. You would never know she is the person who created iconic looks like Mariah’s hair color for her comeback tour! She is laidback and friendly, and most definitely not a bragger. She works incredibly hard to this day, and cares deeply about her team and clients.
