Wondering what to wear this holiday season? The Style That Binds Us is here to help you look your best during this magical season. Whether you’re attending a family gathering, a work party, or a cozy night in, we’ve got you covered with the latest tips and trends
First off, let’s talk about the classic holiday party look- a shimmering sequin dress is always a go-to choice. It adds that touch of glamour and festivity. And remember, rich jewel tones, like emerald and red are in this year, but there’s nothing more elegant than a black, sequin dress, trimmed in feathers, right?! Pair it with earrings and a clutch to complete the look, or if it’s a more casual event, add one piece that’s festive, like a sequin jacket with leather pants or jeans, or a pair of sequin pants with a pullover sweater. If it’s an office party, you can wear what you wore that day, but add a touch of sparkle, maybe it’s in your earrings or maybe you change to a different shoe- or add a sequin cami underneath your blazer or jacket. Quick, easy changes that get you in the holiday mood.
Let’s talk about those cozy nights in with family or for caroling in the neighborhood-
comfort, warmth and style can go hand in hand. A chunky knit sweater in red and a scarf are perfect, or a Fair Isle sweater and jeans give for that relaxed, cozy yet “quiet luxury” vibe. A red coat, a plaid scarf, you can even add a festive feel with earrings like these (green with feathers). If you have these pieces on hand ahead of time, you will be set to go, don’t forget a holiday apron if you are the chef! For example I have a red one that says Joyeaux Noel.
And finally, when you’re sitting down for a holiday feast, you want to be comfortable but put together. This seems daunting, if you are in charge of the gathering, but it is not impossible to achieve.
Give yourself quiet time to get dressed and prepared (even 30 minutes helps), and when possible add 15 extra minutes in your schedule for last minute emergencies. If the dinner you are hosting or the party you are attending starts at seven, stop your day by 5. If may seem impossible when you are even busier than normal, but this is what will keep you sane- preparing now for holiday clothes and getting that off your list, and giving yourself a little extra time when you were running the show. You may have to learn to delegate!
