Learn to be single & happy!

At first I was thinking… WTF, I’m Single?!

This was NOT the plan! Being the Type A & activity oriented girl that I am, I’m constantly looking ahead and plan my schedule weeks in advance. I considered the boyf in these future plans, then one day, BAM, it’s OVER!!

What does it mean to go from a we to an I? 8 months ago, I had to come to terms with this new reality, and redefine my identity as a now single girl. I started to remember things I liked or parts of my personality that I had suppressed/forgotten, while simultaneously reevaluating what my new life could look like. Examples of this include:

  • Remember my taste in music
  • Dance the night away like no one is watching
  • Watch as many fashion documentaries as I want
  • Scope out all the deliciously handsome men this city has to offer
  • Dream big. Bigger than I ever have before, on what my career and life can be
  • Attend events, join groups/clubs and become a young patron of the arts
  • Be an unapologetic girl boss

How to fill all the extra time you have now?

Now that I no longer had to consider someone else, I could do anything I wanted with my time. I made one-on-one dinner dates with friends, and was able to get to know them even better. Hanging out in groups is fun, but you learn much more about what’s going on in someone’s life when it’s just the two of you. Most importantly, I started this blog which was something I had been wanting to do in order to fulfill myself creatively and help others.

How quickly should you start dating again?

A new relationship would’ve been a much-needed distraction, but my heart certainly wasn’t ready for that. It’s so much less stressful going out with the attitude of nonchalance, and being able to concentrate on having a fun night with friends. This is a long hair, don’t care time in my life, and I’m going to soak up every minute!!

“Your 20’s are your ‘selfish’ years. It’s a decade to immerse yourself in every single thing possible. Be selfish with your time, and all the aspects of you. Tinker with stuff, travel, explore, love a lot, love a little, and never touch the ground.”  ― Kyoko Escamilla

Wear outfits that will exude confidence & strength. Show off that body you work so hard for! Regardless of age, be young at heart. Remember, the world is your runway!!!! Go out and have the adventure of your life!
